Do you have a New Year’s Resolution to work on your cycling in 2010? Are you telling yourself you overdid the holidays and need to get back into a workout regimen before the ground thaws? Or does your bike desperately need some loving while you need reassurance that you can put pedal to the metal to power uphill? Whether you took time off for the holidays, you’re looking to start something new in the New Year, or you know your weak spots on the bike, you’re ready to halt winter hibernation, break a sweat even when the mercury barely breaks freezing and rev your engine to power your bike for the season ahead. Look no further than Taste of Vision Quest, with an eight-week session to keep your legs busy and your fitness in check as the days grow longer, the temperatures start to rise and the snowfall goes on vacation until the next time the ground freezes.
Maybe you’re convinced your legs can do better with a little guidance, especially on hills or tough headwinds. Or you need something to push you the extra mile to make your cycling stronger. Maybe you just want some quality time in the saddle without bundling up for the outdoors or avoid setting up the trainer to ride alone at home. Whatever the case, Taste of VQ’s late winter into spring session could be just what your cycling needs.
The next session starts the week of February 15 and runs until April 11. In these eight weeks, you’ll work hard and get a sample of everything to keep you fit while getting a jump start on your next season’s goals. Taste of VQ will have you training on your bike weekly while building your power and skills without having to battle the elements outdoors as winter transitions into spring.
This Taste of VQ phase moves one step past laying a foundation and builds the first floor to your race fitness this season by developing lactate threshold power. Studies have shown that in most endurance events, the higher your threshold power—or the longer you can sustain your threshold power—the more successful you will be. Not a racer? You don’t need to be: Everyone, even a casual commuter, can benefit from threshold training. Threshold training allows you to feel more comfortable at a higher pace whether you’re alone or with a group. Next time you’re surging up a hill, you can still be within your limits ready for whatever comes next. Or since we live in the flatlands of Chicago, you’ll simulate those hills on the CompuTrainer rather than drive to Wisconsin or fly West.
This offering is one of the most unique training packages available on the market today. This package allows you to get a taste of what Vision Quest Coaching has to offer before you commit to one of our Membership Packages. You get full use of the Performance Training Center at a designated time for eight weeks.
Once a week, at a time set up by you and the VQ staff, you can come and train using VQ equipment and have access to the staff. This package is perfect if you are unfamiliar with the benefits of a performance center versus a gym, or if you are unsure that structured workouts really make a difference. We are confident that once your eight weeks are complete, you will be excited and proud to be a member of Vision Quest Coaching.
The next Taste of VQ session starts the week of February 15, so sign up before you regret missing these benefits and the cycling season really is upon us!
