Level I USAT Certified Coach

Why do you coach?
I was an overweight, out of shape former high school athlete when I discovered triathlon ten years ago at age 33. The sport transformed my body and my perspective on what can be achieved in all facets of life with consistent hard work, dedication and commitment. I have been lucky to train under the guidance of some great coaches in the past and have also learned a lot through the mistakes I’ve made over the years. I enjoy being able to pass on what I’ve learned to help while achieving their goals in triathlon as well as in their personal and professional lives.

Personal Achievements:
USAT All American 2004, 2005, 2006, Honorable Mention 2002, 2008
3 time Ironman World Championship Qualifier and Finisher 2004, 2005, 2006 with PR of 9:55
14 time Ironman Finisher (Lake Placid 3x, Arizona 4x, Kona 3x, Canada 2x, New Zealand, Wisconsin)
Ironman 70.3 World Championship Qualifier and Finisher 2006
Walt Disney World International Triathlon 1st Place Age Group 2005
Atlantic Coast Half Iron Triathlon Masters 1st Place 2009
Gator Half Iron Triathlon Masters 2nd Place 2010
Boston Marathon Finisher 2010
Leadville 100 Mountain Bike Finisher 2010

Why do you work for Vision Quest Coaching?
Quite simply it’s the most positive, talented group of athletes I’ve ever been around. EVERY time I’m around fellow VQers my energy level rises and my mood improves. I have spent many miles training alone, and I believe there’s a place for that. However, it’s a lot more fun to train as part of a team and have other athletes around to push you to reach your potential. On top of that, the knowledge and experience of the coaches is second to none. If you have a question, someone at VQ has the answer or knows where to get it.

Favorite pastime when not training or coaching:
Spending time with my wife of almost 20 years, Karen, and our daughters Lindsay and Lauren.
