Why do you coach?
I love watching athletes of all ages and ability levels discover new highs in performance, discipline, and enjoyment through sport, and love knowing that I took part in finding those new heights.
Most Memorable Moment as a Coach:
Coaching Accomplishments:
2008 National Junior Triathlon Team Champions (male, female, and combined team) and several individual athlete National Champions
Conditioning Coach for 2006 Winter Paralympian (Nordic Skiing and Biathlon)
Assistant coach for elite triathlon team with athletes who competed nationally and overseas , in World Cups, and one World Championship (Duathon)
Multiple USAT National Qualifiers
Coach to several “newbies” to cycling and triathlon, including a 70+ year old woman who completed her first century (100 mile) ride 10 weeks after starting with me.
Personal Achievements:
Competed as an Elite Triathlete for 5 years – distances from Sprint to Half IM, nationally and internationally
Podium finishes in several pro purse triathlons
Several top 5 overall finishes in several 10Ks and Half-Marathons
Cat 4 Overall Winner in the Lotoja 200 mile cycling road race (2002)
Why do you work for Vision Quest Coaching?
Who else has the comprehensive facilities and programs to service my athletes? Where else could I bring all my experience, education, and training to bear in the wide range of classes, courses, and events I direct, physiologic testing I perform, and bike/run-stride fits/analysis? Where else could I continue to give back to the sports that have given me so much? VQ has it all in a great atmosphere!
Favorite pastime when not training or coaching:
Doing anything outdoors (telemark skiing, backpacking, ultimate frisbee) or helping friends and family with home and computer projects.
